Our dedicated staff works closely with the Athletic Commissions of California, Nevada and various states across the nation to clear hundreds of fighters every year seeking medical clearance. In California alone, we have historically cleared more than 90 percent of all fighters with the California State Athletic Commission (CSAC).
Given our history with the Commissions (which include WCN’s Dr. Gluckman development of many of the protocols used to date) and experience facilitating and conducting medical clearance, promotional groups like MMA, Belator, Golden boy, TGB and more turn to West Coast Neurology to clear their fighters.
Depending on the state and combat sport you need to get cleared, you will likely have different requirements. While we work closely with several Commissions, you should work directly with the applicable Commission to ascertain the services you need to get cleared. You can arrive in the morning and have your entire workup completed by the time you leave. If you have somewhere to fight, we’ll get you cleared!

Yes. Starting in the morning, fighters have the option and ability to complete all their exams in one day.

Valid forms of identification include: state driver’s license or current Passport. Make sure your choice of ID has not expired.

No. Unfortunately, you cannot use your health insurance for your medical clearance exams.

Depends on the number and type of exams that you require. If you only need a physical examination, your visit would take roughly an hour. However, if you’re getting all your exams at one time, it will be closer to six hours. For that reason, we highly encourage our fighters to arrive at our office to begin testing by 8 a.m.

Physical Examinations, Neurological Examinations, Cardiovascular (EKG) Examination, Ophthalmologic (EYE) Examination: results are SAME DAY. MRI Review Summary and Blood Testing: Results are within 24-72 Hours (expedited services may be available if you are in a bind – call us).

Your results will be send to the email that you’ve provided to us. A courtesy copy will also be emailed/faxed directly to the applicable State Athletic Commission.

Yes. We will work with you to ascertain the exams that you need for clearance wherever you may be fighting. Whether that’s in California, Texas, Nevada, any other domestic state, or even another country, we have got you covered. If you find somewhere to fight, we’ll get you cleared!

Yes. We offer fighters a nose swab COVID test if they would like it.

We will refer you to the proper specialist depending on the abnormality, so that they can look into the matter further with you.

Yes. We can evaluate fighters following injuries they sustain in bouts. And, we can work with fighters to get
them cleared for future bouts to the extent the fighter is able.
