Vertigo & Dizziness

Vertigo treatment & dizziness causes

As many as one in ten people have experienced dizziness, vertigo or loss of balance. As we age, that number rises to four in ten for people aged 40 and older. Dizziness and vertigo are among the most common reasons patients visit a doctor. They are as common as back pain and headaches. Another common neurologic problem, especially in sports, is concussion.

At West Coast Neurology, we see all of these conditions almost every day. We see the problems these conditions cause, too. For example, as people get older, falling is too often a direct consequence of dizziness or vertigo, and the risk is compounded when older adults have additional neurologic or chronic medical problems. Falls can lead to fractures or even loss of life. A very serious concussion can cause brain damage.

Here at West Coast we offer VAT/ENG (vestibular autorotation test/electronystagmography) to aid in the clinical diagnosis of vertigo and other vestibular dysfunctions. Dr. Barton cares for patients with a broad range of neurological disorders, including seizure, dementia, sleep disorders, Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, concussion symptoms, brain injuries, dizziness and more.

If you feel dizzy or suspect you have any signs or symptoms of vertigo or concussion symptoms, please call West Coast Neurology immediately at (626) 598-3770 or book an appointment online by clicking here.
