Dr. Barton is a dual board-certified neurologist and clinical neurophysiologist whose career integrates advanced medical science with expertise that extends beyond the clinical.

summa cum laude graduate of the University of California, San Diego, he earned his M.D. from the UCLA School of Medicine, completed his neurology residency at UCLA, and pursued advanced fellowship training at UCLA and also at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. His subspecialty training encompassed intraoperative neuromonitoring, clinical neurophysiology, electromyography (EMG/NCV), electroencephalography (EEG), vestibular (balance) testing and neuromuscular disease.

Board-certified in both Neurology and Clinical Neurophysiology, Dr. Barton combines a rigorous academic background with a commitment to patient-centered care. His research—recognized through competitive grant awards, has spanned electromyography, neuromuscular disorders, electroencephalography, vestibular testing, and neuropathy.

Appointed Clinical Professor, Dr. Barton serves on staff with leading universities nationwide, consulting on Intraoperative Neuromonitoring and Neurodiagnostics. He continues to hold academic and teaching positions. His academic affiliations include:

  • Cleveland Clinic

  • Mayo Clinic

  • Rush University

  • University of Tennessee

  • University of Wisconsin

  • Methodist University

  • Scripps University

  • University of Colorado

  • University of New Mexico

  • University of Houston

A native of Los Angeles, his academic and professional pursuits have taken him across the globe, including time at St Petersburg State University in Russia and Beijing University in China.

In later years, Dr. Barton expanded his perspective on healing by becoming an ordained Orthodox rabbi, graduating from an ultra-Orthodox Brooklyn yeshiva under Rabbi Chaim Finkelstein and Rabbi Shlomo Chaim Kessler. After years of intense study required for ordination—demanding mastery of complex legal, ethical, and spiritual texts—he was awarded the rank of יורה יורה, one of the highest levels of qualification for a rabbi to make authoritative decisions on Jewish law. He current plan is to master ancient Jewish texts and then persue a masters degree in Jewish medical ethics from Yeshiva University in New York. An interesting turn of events, as he had been raised without traditional Jewish education and lived as a happy secular Jew until his 40s, when he decided he wanted his children to experience the world with greatest possible depth. This uncommon combination of medical expertise and rabbinical scholarship informs his approach to care, recognizing that true healing sometimes extends beyond medication or physical intervention to address deeper dimensions of health.

In his younger years, before devoting himself to Torah and Jewish studies, he was an award-winning competitive ballroom dancer, swimming champion and an accomplished impressionist oil painter in high school. He even became a proficient surfer in his college years.

Today, he lives a life of meaning with his wife, three daughters, and a female dog—outnumbered at home five to one. When asked what his greatest accomplishment was thus far, he said: “definately potty training the world’s most obstinate puppy, but she still has yet to keep the Sabbath.”
