Dr. Taylor Shannon is a board-certified child neurologist with a subspecialty focus in pediatric epilepsy. He was born and raised in Houston, TX, and lived in The Hague, the Netherlands where he completed high school. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Neuroscience, with a minor in Music, from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD, and went on to complete his Doctor of Medicine at the Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, PA before moving to Los Angeles, CA for his continued medical training.
Dr. Shannon completed his General Pediatrics internship and residency before pursuing Child Neurology residency at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA), where he served as Chief Resident for the 2024–2025 academic year. He subsequently completed a one-year, ACGME-accredited Epilepsy Fellowship at CHLA with a focus in pediatric epilepsy management, and is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in Child Neurology.
His clinical interests include pediatric epilepsy, neurodevelopmental disorders, and headache management, though he remains passionate about managing all pediatric neurologic conditions. His scholarly interests center on quality improvement within healthcare delivery, and addressing healthcare disparities within the field of child neurology. During his residency and fellowship training, he authored an institutional guideline for the diagnosis and treatment of infantile spasms for use by the CHLA inpatient neurology department, and co-authored a multidisciplinary action plan for diagnosis and treatment of infantile botulism that was adopted into clinical practice at CHLA in 2025. He has also contributed to research presented at the Muscular Dystrophy Association Clinical and Scientific Conference. As Chief Resident, he mentored junior residents and represented Child Neurology on CHLA’s Inpatient Workgroup, Wellness Committee, and Graduate Medical Education Committee.
In his free time, Dr. Shannon is an avid sports fan and enjoys supporting his hometown Houston Rockets and Dallas Cowboys. Along with his wife Chloe, he enjoys traveling the world and attending live music and comedy shows. When not traveling or attending shows, he enjoys playing tennis, cooking, and spending time at home with his two cats, Powder and Samson.
Dr. Shannon joins a well-established pediatric neurology team at West Coast Neurology that includes Children's Hospital Los Angeles alumni Dr. Jyes Querubin, Dr. Norianne Pimentel-Piatt, and Dr. Brian Choi.
